This 1983 ( I have no idea why 1929 is in the headline of this post )convention was my first NABJ conference along with the host contingent from AABJ because we were hosting the convention next year. We studied every aspect of that conference to not make the same mistakes that were made in New Orleans. Under the leadership of our president Cecilia Morris and VP of Broadcast Roy Patterson we set a new standard for NABJ conferences that other chapters followed. The conference was held at the Colony Square Hotel. We were not ready for the triple increase in attendance. Every panel was packed. The late Tom Morgan, our first gay president was extremely pleased. Then while taking a break in the AABJ suite we were watching the network newscasts - we made the lead story on ABC, NBC and CBS newscast because of former Ambassador Andrew Young called the young campaign crew that were advising then Democratic presidential hopeful and former vice president Walter Mondale - "Smart assed White Boys." Young retold that story during a book signing at our 2023 conference in Birmingham. Atlanta signaled in the new era for NABJ. Each conference learned from the previous conference and they got better year after year as the membership and attendance grew. Atlanta also was the host for the first now-defuncted UNITY convention of journalists of color. Every four years, NABJ, the Hispanic , Asian and Native American journalists held a joint conference. Up until this date, the last NABJ convention was held in 2006. Finally, after 20 years we will return to the capitol of the South in 2026.

Byron Pitts is one of the best in the business. Good guy around. Next time when there are two interviewers and only one mic, just use one interviewer.

Is a great show..

S.W.A.T. is an awesome show with a lot of great actors such as Shemar Moore, Jay Harrington, Kenny Johnson, David Lim. The writers do a great job writing individual stories that also ties in with the seasonal story. It is an action packed TV show. that you as a viewer, will not want to miss.

This was a nice easy conversation to hear! Most of our experiences are full of learned trauma. It sticks to our insides and haunts our translation of the hope after breathing. We share our truth to walk the halls free of evil eye contact. Can we ever challenge liberty? You know, the burden of a supposed blue print etched in our mind. Stories don’t come for free. The road is long and dusty, there is no place to sip water. Moving free above dried blood and chained bodies did more that provide a hidden space for open-ended crime. It was sacred some of our feet can feel the vibration of “keep going child” by the tree where the owl keep the leaves company. The sky is open there, keep the Earth quiet and take just enough.
